Published in 2024, Healing Justice as our Compass is a report that documents a two-year field building assessment by the National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network (NQTTCN) to strengthen healing justice as a political, spiritual, and organizing framework for QTBIPOC liberation.

In the face of rising crises and the growing cooptation of healing justice, NQTTCN engaged members, advisors, and aligned organizations through surveys, strategy sessions, and ecosystem mapping to assess the landscape and clarify its strategic role.

A key finding is the disconnect between healing practitioners and social justice movement organizers—two fields essential to building liberatory ecosystems of care. Practitioners report isolation, burnout, and limited avenues to politicize their work, while organizers lack the care strategies and partnerships needed to navigate trauma and sustain movements.

The report offers a new Theory of Liberation, updated mission and healing justice definition, and three core interventions to organize practitioners, build narrative power, and equip movements with collective care and safety strategies to build power. Together, these shifts chart a path for collective liberation rooted in healing justice and abolition.
