Do you find it difficult to say what you want or need? Are you looking for an alternative to traditional talk therapy? I am a voice-focused music therapist who provides adults with a caring and accepting space to explore their voices. You don’t need to have a “good voice” or have any previous musical experience to benefit from this service, and you are never required to sing.
Developing a relationship with your voice can help you understand who you are, what you want and need, and how to speak up for yourself. Singing can be so vulnerable and scary! That’s why I love providing services virtually – this allows you to turn your microphone off if needed. We may use tools such as meditation, songwriting, and improvisation in our sessions, focusing on the process of creating sound rather than the sound itself.
As a Queer, Trans, South-Asian American human, I understand that systemic issues impact everything we experience, especially our voices. I hope that our therapy space is one where you can practice the tools you need for your own and our collective liberation. You are the expert in your life and your experiences, even if it might not feel like that right now. My role as your therapist is to co-create this space with you, share what I notice, and provide tools based on my music therapy foundation and lived experiences.
To get started, we’ll have a FREE 30-minute video consultation. This gives you time to ask questions, learn about this approach, and even try out what it might be like to use your voice with another person in a virtual format. Throughout your journey, we’ll work together to identify your goals, and I’ll offer ways to utilize the voice to model some of the challenges you may face in your daily life.
I am a Queer, Trans, and Desi voice practitioner and board-certified music therapist. I co-create space with my clients that prioritizes unconditional care, dignity, and autonomy. I believe each voice is valuable, inherently deserving of respect, reflective of a person’s identities and past experiences, and worthy of caring spaces to be heard.
