I’m Kath (she/they), I’m a licensed MFT in California. I identify as a 2nd gen. Asian-American, queer, non-binary person. Seeking a therapist that reflected marginalized experiences, such as my own, was challenging, which is what called me to this work. Personally and professionally, I operate through an embodied, trauma-informed, and intersectional feminist lens.
I often tell clients, that a lot of the work we do is actually unlearning many things that we’ve been taught to believe about ourselves and others. Cultures can breed a lot of shame in us when we are simply existing. What would happen if we removed these lenses of shame that have been imposed on us and implement new ways of operating that will bring us closer to the whole person that already resides in us.
A little more about me: after graduating with an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University, I completed my post-graduation hours towards licensure in community mental health where I serviced LGBTQ+ adolescents and families in under resourced communities, specializing in trauma. I have spent the last 5 years working primarily with LBGTQ+ adults in private practice settings. I received my BA in Gender and Ethnic Studies from CSULB. I am an avid Yogi, spiritual practitioner, and astrologer. I spend most of my time exploring planets and attending diy shows.
