My guiding principle as a therapist is creating inclusive and non-judgmental spaces so that people can feel the freedom to express themselves, explore their experiences and create authentic connection. I believe that listening is an essential tool in healing and feeling valued. My approach is trauma-informed and client-centered, with an anti-oppression lens. The therapeutic space I create is political, anti-apartheid and anti-genocide. I am committed to the lifelong unlearning of imperial structures that are deeply rooted in mental health, and to supporting people as they unpack how societal and institutional structures have impacted their mental health and wellness. You are not the problem. The problem exists external to you.
My identity as a Queer South Asian Non-Binary person informs my approach to psychotherapy and is foundational to my work. Alongside my identities, my work as a personal storytelling performance artist and group facilitator for the past 15 years has given me a valuable perspective of how trauma intersects with gender identity, race, ethnicity, culture, religion, sexuality, and disability.
The therapeutic space I create for individuals and couples is influenced by Internal Family Systems Therapy (parts-work), Narrative Therapy and Imago Relationship Therapy models. I am further trained as a sex therapist and somatic Brainspotting practitioner. At the core of each of these is a dedication to centering people as the expert in their own life and honoring individual self-determination. I believe that when you start therapy, you are forming a relationship with someone new. That makes us co-creators and equal partners in creating the therapeutic space. I welcome feedback at all stages of our work together and hope to support you in your wellness.
I work with individuals, couples and people who are in relationships of all kinds including friendships, CNM and poly structures.
