Areas of Expertise
Much of my own story has centered around the years of unpacking the shame of being “othered” and making sense of being a second-generation Chinese American living in the United States.
My experiences in therapy have helped me better understand myself and the experiences that I have had and continue to have. As a child of immigrants growing up in an environment different than the ones my parents were raised in, I did not have the language or the education to understand biculturalism. It felt jarring and confusing to be raised in an Eastern home and grow up in a Western environment. I learned to see that I was learning how to navigate multiple sets of expectations at an early age.
Therapy has helped me to be able to dream again.
I bring to my practice 7 years of experience in programming for the Utah Pride Center’s Youth & Family Programs. I worked with my colleagues and community members to develop and meet daily living needs; gender-affirming clothing; information on referrals; and social, educational, and support groups. Most recently I practiced in St. Louis as a therapist intern at Webster University and co-facilitated their Trans & Gender Expansive Support Group.
